Who I Am

I am the author of the 3-part series: “The Mother’s Call for Peace.” I am also the  Founder and President of “The Mother’s Institute” and of “Covenant Children’s House,” an established pilot program and unique model for child care and early childhood education. I have been a teacher, director, innovator, and leader in education for over forty years. The values and ideas that drive my life’s work include:

• Transforming the world, one child at a time, through quality early childhood care and education, which is both community supported and family-centered.
• Creating a new, Global Peace Curriculum for the 21^st Century designed for early childhood education and also for common schools.
• Envisioning a global school system designed to give all the world’s children access to education.
• Empowering women and insisting upon and investing in education for all girls around the world.
• Inspiring and preparing dedicated, seasoned educators to teach within a global school system.
• Organizing communities to help create a culture of peace for all of the world’s children.
• Instituting and maintaining an organizing Center to serve as a global force for good.
• Encouraging women to use their collective power in moving the world toward a just peace.

I have found that whomever a person is in spirit is far more important than his or her ego self and personality, but this is not the answer to “Who are you?” that people expect.  Within the realm of my individuality and my personhood, I am a master teacher, an innovator in early childhood care and education, and the founder and president of my own non-profit institute.  My integrated program, which is family-centered, creates a culture of peace for young children while also preparing them for elementary and middle school.

Over the course of an extensive vocation as a parent and teacher, I have developed and piloted a model program and a comprehensive, global curriculum for peace education, beginning during the early childhood years.  Through the children’s house and institute I founded and still lead, I have been making my model program available to small groups of children and teachers for over twenty years.  My programs, models, and curriculum, which are intentionally and genuinely holistic, address developmental tasks and needs in every aspect or dimension of being human: body, mind, soul, and spirit.
